During excavations and construction works at the unpaved parts of the
M.R. Štefánik Airport in Bratislava, a World War II bombshell was found April 14.
“The works were immediately halted and we called the airport pyrotechnist and sapper of the police corps,” airport spokeswoman Veronika Ševčíková informed the TASR newswire. “After an ensuing expertise, the bombshell was loaded, under professional care, and transported from the airport premises.”
No evacuation was necessary and flights operated according to due schedule.
