POLICE will not investigate recordings of Radoslav Procházka made by Igor Matovič, the website Aktualne.sk reported on October 23.

“The investigator ... under instructions from the prosecutor dated October 20 decided to drop the matter, as there are no reasons to start criminal prosecution,” police president Tibor Gašpar told aktualne.sk.

Police launched criminal prosecution concerning tax evasion based on an audio recording of a private conversation between Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO) leader Igor Matovič and then-presidential candidate Radoslav Procházka (Sieť), in September. This week, the case was closed, according to the TASR newswire.

The recording captures the discussion between the two men about posting election campaign ads in Matovič’s newspapers off the books. Procházka admitted that the voice in the recording belongs to him, but maintains that the material was tampered with, TASR wrote.

The conclusion has been sent to the Prosecutor-General’s Office, and it will be up to this authority to decide what to do next.
