VW opens new tool shop in Stupava

BRATISLAVA-based carmaker Volkswagen (VW) Slovakia opened a new tool shop in Stupava (near the capital) worth €4 million. The hall at the area of about 6,000 square metres will produce tools and equipment for automotive production, the TASR newswire reported.

VW will employ 50 high-qualified workers and other subsidiary staff in the tool shop. The production portfolio of the facility will include welding tongs, robot manipulators, preparatory items for production lines and elements to protect equipment. They will be supplied to VW plants all around the world, including China, India and Mexico.

Chair of the board of directors of VW Albrecht Reimold said that opening this technological centre is form of their interest to continue in activities in Slovakia, as reported by TASR.

The Economy Ministry considers the opening of the tool shop positive and expressed hope that the number of similar investments will increase, especially in other parts of Slovakia, as reported by TASR.
